This Plant Kills Lyme Disease Better Than Antibiotics, According To Research

Lyme disease is an infection caused by bacteria and it can happen to everyone no matter their age. It can be manifested trough black-legged ticks and deer ticks all over the United States and also in over sixty more countries over the world. The CDC says that Lyme disease is diagnosed in over 300,000 patients every year. The symptoms of Lyme disease are very hard to recognize because they be the same as symptoms for many different diseases. Lyme disease can also appear in every organ in the body like the heart, joints and muscles, the nervous system and also the brain.

Here are some of the symptoms of Lyme disease:

  • Chills
  • Muscle Aches
  • Joint Pain
  • Fever
  • A rash shaped like a bull’s eye
  • Sweats
  • Nausea

Antibiotics are the conventional treatment for Lyme disease, but they do not treat deeper the disease, just the surface infection, and thus the infection can do more damage inside the body. One preclinical study discovered that the extract of stevia leaf can eliminate the pathogen Borrelia Burgdoferi – which is the cause for Lyme disease due to its antibiotic properties.

The study

This study was performed by the Department of Biology and Environmental Science, University of New Haven, West Haven, CT. The European Journal of Microbiology and Immunology has published the results from the study. In it they compared the conventional antibiotics with the alcohol extract of whole stevia leaf product. The researchers investigated their power in eliminating different forms of Borrelia burgdorferi.

There are many types of Borrelia Burgdorferi and there is not any antibiotic strong enough to kill it. It is very difficult to kill the B. burgdorferi because it has managed to put a barrier against all antibiotics. But, the Stevia whole leaf extract has proved to be highly efficient in treating all the different forms of Borrelia Burgdorferi.

Researches also stated that negative effects were experienced within 2-4 weeks in 10-20% of all the Lyme disease cases in which they treated this condition with antibiotics. The side –effects were muscle aches, joint aches, pain and fatigue. And these side-effects even lasted for up to 6 months in some of the cases.

The researchers also stated that a lot of phytochemicals are contained in the leaf extract of stevia , and it also offer powerful antimicrobial properties in the treatment of a lot of the pathogens. They also said that this natural treatment including the stevia leaf extract is highly efficient in cases of B. burgdorferi.

Although this was only a preliminary study, it opens the topic for further investigations. The results from this study showed that stevia leaf extract can be very beneficial and of high importance in the fight against Lyme disease.
