8 Foods You Should Never Eat If You Have Joint Pain

There are several types of joint pain and they can vary from acute or chronic, mild or severe. It can affect any part of the joint and leads to pain or inflammation and causes discomfort. There are many reasons for pain in the joints such as: lupus, fibromyalgia, dislocated or broken bones, injuries, arthritis, and gout. In case of joint pain, there are some foods that can worsen the inflammation and the symptoms. So here is a list of foods that you should not consume if you suffer from joint pain:

1.Monosodium glutamate

MSG – monosodium glutamate is an additive which is often used in soy sauce and Asian food to enhance the flavor. But it is also added in other foods like deli meats, salad dressings, soup mixes and prepared soups and fast food meals. It is bad for joint pain because it causes inflammation and pain.

2.Refined Carbohydrates

Refined carbohydrates are found in many foods like cereals, white potatoes, white rice, crackers and breads. Obesity and many other chronic diseases can be a result of consuming refined carbohydrates. They also have increased glycemic index. They can also cause inflammation due to their ability to promote the production of AGE.

3.Dairy products

Many people consider dairy products as food that triggers inflammation in their body. In a research, it was shown that a lot of people cannot digest milk properly and they are not even aware of that fact. Inflammation can be a result of consuming a lot of dairy products. So it is recommended to avoid this food if you are experiencing joint pain.

4.Corn Oil

Corn oil or some other oils are rich in omega 6 fatty acids which can be found in snacks and baked products. These products rich in omega 6 fatty acids are the reason for inflammation. So do not consume grape seed oil, salad dressings, peanuts and soy. So instead of food rich in omega-6 fatty acids consume food that is rich with omega-3 which are anti-inflammatory such as flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, nuts and olive oil.

5.Sugar

Sugar is another thing that you should avoid if you have pain in the joints. So do not fall to the temptation of the desserts, chocolate bars or donuts. This type of food contains processed sugar which is the reason for the release of cytokines – inflammatory messengers. This applies to all sugary products like snacks, cereals, sodas and candy. Consuming a lot of sugar can cause gaining weight and this means that there will be more pressure put on the joints.

6.Alcohol

Alcohol does not only damage the liver. It can also lead to damage on the joints. Beer has purines. When consumed, purines are transformed into uric acid, which is highly harmful for the joints. Gluten is another ingredient in beer, and it can also cause damage to painful joints.

7.Processed and Red Meat

Purine and nitrate are contained in processed and red meat. And they are responsible for the inflammation and pain in the body. Another bad news is that, besides causing inflammation, red and processed meat, they are also responsible for cancer growth.

8.Salt

Prepared and packed food has a big amount of salt and preservatives to keep it longer period on the shelves. But refined salt contains a lot of chemicals and additives and can interrupt the fluid balance. Be careful what you eat. Do not consume microwave food and junk food. It is also a better and healthier solution to use Pink Himalayan sea salt instead or regular table salt.
