7 Signs You Are Eating Too Much Sugar

We all adore eating sugar and sugary things, even though we know that it is harmful for the health, and that is simply unfair.

Sugar has a very sweet and very addicting taste, but on the other hand you should avoid it because it can cause a lot of negative effects on your health.

Here are the 7 signs that your body sends to tell you that you are eating a lot of sugar and must make some changes to avoid that:

1. Feeling of tiredness and lack of energy

When you consume a lot of sugar, you may lack energy and constantly feel tired. When we eat food that is rich in sugar, it fills us immediately with energy, but that is just temporary, and later the energy goes down and you feel tired during the day.

2. Frequent flu and colds

The immune system also becomes weaker due to consuming too much sugar and it leads to chronic diseases, frequent flu, viruses and colds. So if you lower the intake of sugar, you can also reduce the risk for these health problems.

3. Foggy brain, especially after a meal

The most common symptom for low blood sugar is foggy brain. When we eat food rich in sugar, it increases the level of blood sugar very fast and then it drops very sudden. This variation of blood sugar can increase the risk of cognitive problems and impairment.

4. Cravings for sugar/carbs

If you are constantly feeling cravings for sugar, then you are addicted to sugar. Sugar can be very addictive and it can cause a chain reaction of sugar cravings if you consume it too much.

5. Weight gain

Sugar does not contain protein and fiber and because of that it cannot make you feel full, and the more sugar you eat-the more calories you get. Sugar makes the body to release insulin, which is needed to transport the sugar to the organs in order to produce energy.

So if you consume too much sugar, it tells the body to release more insulin and this can result with insulin resistance. So, then the body does not respond to normal levels of insulin and does not transport the sugar as it should.

The state of insulin resistance is connected to diabetes; obesity and weight gain because the pancreas gets overwhelmed.

6. Not the same taste as before

Alpert says that when we consume too much sugar, our taste buds get used to that and it can increase their tolerance to sugar, and thus you will feel frequent cravings for food which is much sweeter than before.

It is very hard at start, but when you lower the consummation of sugar, the level of sugar tolerance will decrease and make you satisfied with even small amounts of sugar. With time, you will see that you will start to think that some things are too sweet for you.

7. Skin and feet issues, and dark circles under the eyes

If we intake a high amount of sugar, it can act as inflammatory and this can result with excessive dryness and oiliness, rosacea, eczema, acne and many other skin problems. On the other hand, your skin will be softer and cleaner if you lower the amounts of sugar intake.

Also, plantar fasciitis can be a result o the inflammatory effects of sugar, explains Dr. Sherri Greene – a podiatrist in New York City. This can also cause thick band of tissue on the soles and heels.

Also high sugar intake from different food can also lead to adrenaline fatigue, and can result with the appearance of dark circles under the eyes.

So in case you notice any of these symptoms, reduce the sugar intake if you want to maintain a good health and also prevent various health problems.
